Selena: After my parents separated my mom actually got her own apartment and I moved in with her. Selena’s Mom: I decided to go to college. I would get up at 6 in the morning, get her ready for school, drop her off then from there I would go to school and we did that everyday. And so the part that I regret then was I feel like I lost a year because it was so much going and going and going - I don’t wanna cry - but that was a tough year. Selena: I remember my mom would run out of gas all the time and we’d sit there and we’d have to like go through the car and get like quarters to help her get gas because she never liked to ask my grandparents for money. And I remember having a lot of macaroni and cheese but my mom never made it seem like it was a big deal. She was really strong around me. Selena’s Mom: Yeah we may have ran out of gas, we did have to walk to the dollar store to get dollar spaghetti so we always had food but if I knew she wanted to go to a concert I would save up for it so you do the best you can with what you’re given. Selena: I mean having me at 16 had to have been a big responsibility. My mom gave up everything for me and had like three jobs, supported me, sacrificed her life for me.



On Justin’s fans: Half of these girls who are saying things would never say it to someone’s face. It’s the idea or the illusion of being able to say what ever you want, how ever you want, the meanest thing you can say and nobody at the end of the day will know it’s you. And I’m human.. of course it hurts my feelings and I don’t like reading it but ultimately I’ve eventually gotten to the point where I laugh at it and I have incredible fans and I’m really happy.

I just remember just being really angry with my mom and I still feel really bad for that. I think still to this day I don’t feel like I’m good enough for my mom. I try to make her proud.







On what she hopes fans will take away from Monte Carlo: If anything I hope it makes them embrace who they are because there’s a million times where a lot of people say, “Oh I wish my life was different or I wish I had this, I wish I had that.”

Selena: Wait give me a minute! Jimmy: No, leave the ice cream! Leave the ice cream. Selena: Well why!

 

Jimmy Fallon: It’s potato chip balls!



[On the industry now] I just feel like it’s different now like I think it was Leonardo DiCaprio he did an interview and he said, “I feel so bad for all these kids that are coming up in this industry because it’s completely different.” We’re not even allowed to like live our lives anymore. We’re not even allowed to make mistakes if we want to without us being judged by adults, without being judged by everyone on the internet. It’s really kind of horrible. I mean I don’t think anybody our age should have to deal with all of that. If you’re at a restaurant and people are on cell phones taking pictures of you and you don’t even realize it so it’s like you have to be aware all the time.

Interviewer: Now you say you like to go to the mall and stuff like that. Can you still go to the mall without people like running after you? Selena: You know what’s funny is I’ve been doing press for Monte Carlo for like a week now and in every single interview they’re like, “It just must be crazy when you go anywhere” and it’s really not and I love that. Like I don’t draw attention to myself I just kinda go and I chill out and I do whatever. If anything this is what I get - “You know you look a lot like that Selena Gomez girl.” And I’m like “Thanks!” and then they walk away!

Selena: She (Katie) was the healthiest one on set and she had to eat the worst. Leighton: And then she got a lot worse as we went along. Selena: Yeah, we tainted her. Leighton: We had a really interesting diet this whole movie Selena: Now were talking about food. Leighton: Yeah! We don’t even remember the question!


Leighton: I’ve never been up in the eiffel tower and we went up top when the sun was rising. We had to get up at like 3 am so that it was all closed just for us. (Selena and Leighton both say at the same time): It was really beautiful. Selena: Oh wow! Leighton: Aw! Interviewer: So in sync!

[On if she’s gotten into any accidents] I hit a pole…. I was very stressed and I reversed and I hit it. ….I was not texting! There were photographers following me and I got scared.
